We are still looking for talented Stargate fans who would like to help us in creating the Stargate Mod. As you might already know, the Stargate Mod is not a professional or commercial project (i.e., we don't earn money with it). This means that every team member must use some of his spare time for working on the Mod. And why should you do this? Because it is fun!

However, a very important basic requirement is that you should have enough spare time in order to finish what you've started. You should be able to estimate how long it will take you to finish an assigned project and set yourself a deadline. Delegating assigned work to another team member should only be used as a last resort.
Additionally all applicants should have basic skills with the English language in both written and oral form and a sound understanding of grammar and spelling.

Currently open positions and their requirements:

Sound and/or Music Designer
  • Creation/Composition of various music tracks for selected game scenes
  • Designing title and/or background music
  • SFX (various sounds for weapons, animals, vehicles, environment, etc.)

Character Modeler
  • At least 2 years of modeling experience
  • Knowledge of at least these standard texture formats: Color-, Alpha-, Specular-, Normalmaps
  • Modeling detailed 3D characters, hi-poly
  • Normalmap baking onto low-poly models (eg. with 3dsMax)
  • Creation of said low-poly models (+LoDs)
  • Very good experience with UVW unwrapping
  • Ability to work with conceptual art drawings
  • Zbrush, Mudbox, 3ds max 2010 or higher are preferred
  • Knowledge on how to export into *.smd and how to convert into *.mdl is a plus
  • Knowledge on how to animate models is a plus

Prop and Weapons Modeler
  • At least 1 year of modeling experience
  • Ability to create low-poly and yet sustain a certain amount of detail incl. UVW-Map
  • Ability to model high-poly versions to create baked Normalmaps
  • Ability to work with conceptual art drawings
  • 3ds max 2010 or higher preferred
  • Maya, XSI and others are however OK as well if adequate
  • The ability to texture your own models is desirable
  • Knowledge on how to export into *.smd and how to convert into *.mdl is a plus
  • Knowledge on how to animate models is a plus

3D-Model Animator
  • At least 2 years of experience with animation & modeling
  • Ability to rig and animate (biped) characters and/or inorganic models

  • Knowledge on how to export into *.smd and how to convert into *.mdl is a plus

3D-Level Designer
  • At least 1 year of solid experience with Valve's Hammer editor and multiplayer mapping
  • Ability to map from existing concepts
  • Being able to create realistic outdoor and indoor environments is required
  • Creating your own Textures and Models is each a HUGE plus
  • Being able to work on singleplayer maps, a good feel for game balance and creating map concept and layouts are advantages!

2D Artist
  • Creating textures for models, the 2D HUD, maps, etc.
  • Knowledge of at least these standard texture formats: Color-, Alpha-, Specular-, Normalmaps

  • Ability to work in/as a team
  • Knowledge of HLSL is a plus

Of course you should also be able to work in a team, know and like a great deal about Stargate.
All applications require you to include copies of previous work. Previous work on another HL2 mod is a huge advantage!

If you want to apply to one of the jobs listed above, but you don't fit all the requirements mentioned, please apply anyhow. We will then check whether we can use your skills in any other way.
The same applies if you want to apply for a position not currently listed above - we are always happy to receive an application and it's possible to accept you in the team if you are very talented or contact you again as soon as we need a skill you can offer.

To apply, please either create a new topic in this forum and describe who you are, what kind of experience you have (and with what tools) and of course which job you want to apply for or use our application form which is located on our contact page. We will then answer to your request and inform you about the details.

Thanks in advance!

"Inside" you say? Well, let me tell you my friend, there is no "inside", just a whole lotta "outside"... (O'Neill, 7x21 Lost City (1))
